I guess we do have bigger internet things to worry about here than JA. Still, I expected something more than just reactions from myself, two twitter posts and a two month old blog post predicting how boring a profile on Julia would be now days.

I tried to explain JFA to people at a twitter meetup on Friday night. I really struggled to accurately depict her to the three people who had not heard of our internet phenomena. This image would have certainly helped.

The “just don’t look” strategy works for more than advertising…it’s effective in any situation where someone or something runs on attention. On the web attention comes in the form of links and pageviews so “just don’t look” translates roughly into “just don’t link or read”.

Nothing to see here folks, move along. There’s 132 videos at Vimeo. Unless of course this cry for pity means there are many more multiples of that number which were in existence, then it may very well cause instantaneous implosion. Though I’m sure because JA is such a Geek Girl™ she would have bitchin back up system - usb thumb drives, external hard drives, dvd, offsite to a server, offsite to tape. She’ll be fine. In fact, I bet right now she is down at the Julia Allison Data Centre hanging with her server admin buddies talking about how good it feels to be a technologically minded hard working geek that ensured a proper plan was in place in case things ever went fubar with her puter.

I really prefer photos that are created by accident - the ones that everyone else usually wants to erase. They seem so much more interesting than the ones boasting awkward poses. This one of me isn’t exactly flattering but I like the composition and I’m a sucker for simple (and dramatic) color palettes.

It is more than a little amusing that someone who provides snarky commentary on celebrities she doesn’t know is righteously indignant when the words are focused on her.

I’ve been unfollowed from JA for 3 weeks now but you can not escape her. It is astonishing just how much we tumblrs are infatuated with the spectacle that is Julia Allison.

I was unplugged from the matrix today so missed Julia Allison live blogging @ Gawker.
I know I should have bought an iPod Touch just to be part of such a special web event but ummmm……
Luckily I have been able to catch up thanks to this explanation and commentary by Loren Feldman at 1938 Media - Julia Allison Is Ugly Inside And Out.
Though, in Julia’s defence she has issued a very well written apology:
I just live blogged at Gawker, and I had forgotten how things can spin out of control. If I have one main flaw - and I know, I know, I have many - it’s that I speak before I think. A lot.
I answered a question honestly when I should have said, sorry, this stuff is off limits. “Off limits” would be a good concept for me to consider in the rest of my life right about now. In any case, I am truly sorry for opening this Pandora’s Box.
I didn’t intend to hurt Jakob. I love him, and I want him to be happy.
I’m sorry.

I don’t know but to me that feels a little insincere.
Maybe because I spotted a similar public outing of Jakob by Julia here on Tumblr a few days ago which I emailed her about and that she subsequently took down.
Sorry, but the defence I speak before I think doesn’t cut it this time. She had 3-4 days to think about the ramifications from when she first published it here on Tumblr to when she again published it on Gawker.
So as an outside observer (which I apologise for, for being part of the overall JA problem) Julia Allison’s major flaw is being a manipulative self centred individual that is fully aware of the impact of everything she says and does yet acts destructively anyway.
