copyright question.

i received an email from a flickr user who claimed i violated their copyright by simply posting the photo (and additionally not listing the photographer’s actual name).
i did, however have the usual link to the photo source on flickr, which clearly stated the photographer’s username.
i removed the offending photo, but after reading flickr’s faq’s, i am not sure whether she can claim that my blogging her photo and providing a link was a violation of copyright.
any insight is much appreciated.
By her reaction you most likely were breaching copyright as it’s up to each individual photographer to determine how their photos can be used.
You’re only able to use photos on your blog from Flickr that are licensed under Creative Commons. When you do post someone else’s photo a simple attribution in the form of a text link to the photo using the Flickr user name is usually enough to give credit to the photographer.
You can see the photo license info of each photo under the “Additional Information” heading in the right sidebar or when you’re searching for photos just select the option for creative commons only at either Flickr’s advanced search page or at this new Flickr search engine.
