Fairfax Digital launched their West Australian news site today to great fanfare and reached an all new low in logo design. Not to mention the daggy name. Seriously. It says a lot about this town.
The logo looks so half-arsed. Worst bit is that Fairfax didn’t even go for a unique site design, is the same template they use for SMH and The Age. I hope WA doesn’t get their hopes up that this will follow through on their likely “New Perspective” marketing campaign. We’ve had the Brisbane Times pushing that line for a little over 12 months. Besides John Birmingham’s blog there is little on offer other than lots of APP stories and trashtastic journalism. Very few stories get broken, depth and breadth of local news is lacking, they don’t embrace the community online or offline and the photography skills of their “multimedia journalists” is really terrible.
