An Alex Lloyd question for Aussies…

Whatever happened to Alex Lloyd? I’m no great fan and he was flogged to death on the radio, but I just heard “Green” and I started to wonder….
I thought he was supposed to be the next big thing?
That was a long time ago.
He was the next big thing back when I remember him doing a weekly segment as Lloydy from Lloydy’s Used Cars Sales on Parramatta Road with Merrick and Rosso when they were still on Triple J in maybe ‘99 or ‘00.
Then he won the Hottest 100 a couple of years later so JJJ stopped playing his songs in their twisted logic that he’s obviously too mainstream if he wins their friggen awards.
After that he really did become the big thing of Australian music when he chunked up but I think he lost all that weight by playing tennis or something.
Last I saw him live was when he toured in 2006. Haven’t heard what he’s doing lately though I sort of like it when a musician has some commercial success then slows down and doesn’t pump albums out for the sake of it.
Umm yeah, sorry to go on but I’m a bit of a fan. There is an acoustic version of My Way Home on one of the singles for another song which is is still one of my fave recordings of anything ever. Also being of short attention span Watching Angels Mend is one of the few albums I can sit completely through.
